Nordic co-operation among local authorities

During the first year of operation of the Association of Local Authorities in Iceland, in 1945, the committee sought co-operation with its counterpart organizations in the other Nordic countries, which had then been functioning for some time. This request was granted readily, and ever since there has been some degree of co-operation with local authorities associations in the other countries, the volume depending on need and other circumstances. One of the forms it takes is that the associations invite representatives to attend each other′s national congresses, and they exchange magazine and other publications. The Association of Local Authorities in Iceland has always received helpful information on various matters from the other Nordic local authority organizations.
